Cryotherapy Beamsville Niagara

Cryotherapy for benign lesions is a medical procedure that involves using extreme cold to freeze and destroy abnormal or unwanted growths on the skin. During this procedure, we use our cryopen to directly apply liquid nitrogen to the lesion where the extreme cold temperature will cause the cells in the lesion to freeze, leading to cell death and eventual shed off the body.

What Cryotherapy Treats

Cryotherapy is commonly used to treat benign skin lesions, including:

  • Skin tags

  • Seborrheic keratoses

  • Cherry angiomas

  • Warts

  • Age spots and sun spots (as appropriate)

How Cryotherapy Works

Cryotherapy uses a controlled application of extreme cold, typically liquid nitrogen, to freeze the targeted lesion. The freezing process damages the abnormal skin cells, causing the lesion to blister, dry up, and eventually fall off as the skin heals.

The treatment is quick and precise, with minimal impact on the surrounding healthy tissue.

Downtime & Healing

After treatment, the area may appear red, swollen, or blistered. A scab will typically form and fall off on its own within 7–14 days. Mild discomfort is common but temporary.

Proper aftercare is important to support healing and reduce the risk of scarring or pigment changes.

Results

Once healed, the treated lesion is permanently removed. Some lesions may require more than one treatment depending on size, depth, and location. Results are long-lasting, although new lesions may develop over time
